‘THE COURTS’

“How lame you have become
How thou hath crushed our hope
Why thy show of shame?
As so dim goes your fame

The last hope of the common man
The citadel of justice
The refuge of the innocent
The strength of the masses
What hath thou done to thyself?

After the revolution
Which ushered in corruption
Through military intervention
The Jury underwent a transformation
And the courts underwent a reconstruction

Now the court is a magnificent building
Where the corrupt use as their hiding
It is now the strength of the wealthy
As they use it to intimidate the poor and the needy
Having compromised the Judges with large pennies

With all integrity lost
And justice obtained at a cost
As court injunction are bought
I was convinced all hope was lost

Sitting on a lonely bay
With my mouth agape
I watched the changing of thides
As justice is being buried
And the poor masses cried silently
Having realised that all hope is lost.”

I wrote this poem several years with poor diction, yet it’s still very relevant till this day.
